DETAILS
Participants will gain skills and knowledge to effectively solve problems by systematically identifying root causes and applying corrective actions for implementation on the production floor by operating-level personnel. The series covers practical problem-solving and continuous improvement tools, including process mapping, 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, Root Cause Analysis, brainstorming and decision-making tools, and basic process control concepts.
This training offers a powerful, hands-on experience that demonstrates the effectiveness of continuous improvement to maximize efficiency and engage your workforce.
Throughout the five sessions, a fun, hands-on project will be completed to support student learning, reinforce key problem-solving concepts, and provide practical experience applying the tools and techniques covered in the course.

Session 1: Problem Definition – Introduction to the DMAIC process and establishing team charters. Learn the importance of defining and agreeing on a problem statement, kicking off a continuous improvement project, engaging your team, and collecting voice of customer to fully understand the issues.

Session 2: Understand the Current State – Learn how to create and understand process maps to fully understand the process and the problem. Understand the importance of process data streams and how to successfully develop plans for data collection to effectively define common problems.

Session 3: Root Cause Analysis – Learn how to effectively apply and implement root cause analysis tools and techniques like the 5-Whys, Fishbone diagrams and root cause analysis. Develop and implement a plan to test your root cause hypotheses. Understanding the basics of process variation.

Session 4: Improve the Process – Learn how to develop and utilize brainstorming strategies and approaches. Understand and apply potential problem analysis tools to proactively address and plan for potential issues. Learn the importance of pilot testing.
Friday, March 26, 2027
Session 5: Ensuring Sustainable Process Solutions – Understand how to effectively develop, implement and document control plans. Introduction to manufacturing excellence concepts including process control, process discipline, and change management tools. Learn how to effectively achieve project closure.
