Connecting oral and overall health
Five Rivers Health Centers opened in 2011 as a medical home for low-income patients in Dayton. The organization quickly gained federally qualified health center (FQHC) accreditation and has
continuously added services (i.e. – dental, pediatric, pharmaceutical, etc.) over the past decade. This rapid expansion led to insufficient space in five building locations and a need for the soon-to-come 80,000-plus square foot facility in the Edgemont community.
Delta Dental answered the call for financial assistance, investing $113,200 to equip the new Dental Center that will be located on the Edgemont campus.
In addition to the Dental Center moving to the new location in southwest Dayton, four more buildings and eight departments will be consolidated into the one site. Five Rivers Health Centers’ vision of a “one-stop” shop will better serve patients who often must overcome many barriers to health, including transportation to multiple facilities. Coming together also allows for integrated dental, primary care and mental health services for all age groups – strengthening the connection between oral and overall health.
The new site provides an exceptional learning environment for more than 100 Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine residents and fellows while building a neighborhood connection and serving as a catalyst for growth and development in the Edgemont community
